10. Week 11 College Basketball Rankings: Villanova Wildcats (HM)

  • Record: 13-4 (6-1 in Big East)
  • Last Week: Won 64-60 at No. 17 Xavier, Won 82-42 vs. Butler
  • This Week: Vs. Marquette 1/19, At Georgetown 1/22

Don’t look now but Villanova is back in the Top 10 on the strength of a six-game winning streak in conference play. The Wildcats absolutely demolished Butler on Sunday, winning by 40 to send a message to the rest of the country that this team will be a force to be reckoned with down the stretch.

9. Week 11 College Basketball Rankings: Wisconsin Badgers (NR)

  • Record: 14-2 (5-1 in Big Ten)
  • Last Week: Won 78-68 vs. No. 16 Ohio State
  • This Week: At Northwestern 1/18, Vs. Michigan State 1/21

The hottest team in the Big Ten is Wisconsin, which is an impressive 14-1 with National Player of the Year candidate Johnny Davis in the lineup. The one loss came at Ohio State, which the Badgers avenged on Thursday, showing that the Badgers have to join Purdue as the favorites in the conference with a crucial measuring stick game against Michigan State on tap for Friday night at the Kohl Center.

8. Week 11 College Basketball Rankings: Baylor Bears (1)

  • Record: 15-2 (3-2 in Big 12)
  • Last Week: Lost 65-62 vs. No. 19 Texas Tech, Lost 61-54 vs. Oklahoma State
  • This Week: At West Virginia 1/18, At Oklahoma 1/22

The Bears showed some vulnerability this week as they lost a pair of winnable home games with awful performances in crunch time. A two-game road trip to Morgantown and Norman isn’t easy so stabilizing with a split would be a good sign for Scott Drew’s team.

7. Week 11 College Basketball Rankings: UCLA Bruins (3)

  • Record: 11-2 (3-1 in Pac-12)
  • Last Week: Lost 84-81 (OT) vs. Oregon, Won 81-65 vs. Oregon State
  • This Week: At Utah 1/20, At Colorado 1/22

A home loss to Oregon doesn’t look great but it isn’t as bad after the Ducks went to USC and knocked off the Trojans too. A lack of home fans undoubtedly impacted the Bruins in their home games, something they won’t have to worry about this week when they hit the road to take on Utah and Colorado.

6. Week 11 College Basketball Rankings: Duke Blue Devils (6)

  • Record: 14-2 (4-1 in ACC)
  • Last Week: Won 76-64 at Wake Forest, Won 88-73 vs. NC State
  • This Week: At Florida State 1/18, Vs. Syracuse 1/22

A 2-0 week was a nice bounce-back for Duke with Wednesday’s win at Wake Forest the far more impressive effort of the two victories. A tricky road game at Florida State awaits the Blue Devils on Tuesday before Coach K squares off with Jim Boeheim for one of the last times as Syracuse comes to Durham on Saturday.
