There have been rumors all over the internet about Wisconsin being in the sweepstakes for Caleb Williams. While they have a returning quarterback in Graham Mertz, the possibility of them welcoming a new competitor to their quarterback room appears open.

Daniels would appear to be an instant upgrade on Mertz, who struggled in 2021. In 13 games of action, Mertz threw 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He completed just 59.5 percent of his passes with a passer rating of 121.29.

The Badgers could persist with Mertz or they could go all in with a more veteran option like Daniels. Again, the issue with Daniels has been availability, not ability. It would be a gamble, but one with huge potential payoff.

They let Jack Coan walk via the transfer portal. They reverse their fortune by looking to the transfer portal to give their offense a big boost.

Daniels has already played in the Pac-12 and SEC. He can add Big Ten to the list.
