Iowa State Cyclones
Iowa State hasn’t been publicly involved in very many quarterback transfer sagas but the Cyclones would make a ton of sense for someone like Daniels.
Brock Purdy did an excellent job guiding the Iowa State offense with 3,188 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2021. He’s moving on to the NFL, leaving Matt Campbell without a wealth of options at quarterback.
The Cyclones do return backup Hunter Dekkers, a four-star prospect from the class of 2020. He’s the heir apparent to Purdy. They have also added junior college transfer Nate Glantz to the mix.
Where Daniels has both of them beat is experience and ceiling. The former Trojan and Bulldog could still become a high-level NFL draft selection. He just needs an opportunity to start regularly to get there.
Campbell is the opposite of splashy in Ames. This would be an opportunity for him to make a statement and legitimize his program in a way that has seemed out of reach.
