MLB: 5 free agents not named Freeman or Correa teams should covet
Carlos Rodon
After a spectacular season with the Chicago White Sox in 2021, Carlos Rodon was not made a qualifying offer and became a free agent. He surprisingly didn’t get nabbed prior to the MLB Lockout but will surely get some attention once a new collective bargaining agreement is reached.
In 2021, Rodon was an impressive 13-5 in 24 games started for the White Sox. He threw 132.2 innings and a career high 185 strikeouts. He even tossed a complete game shut out. He also had a 30.3% called strike rate. Rodon uses a four-seam fastball, slider, a change up and a curveball. Rodon’s fastball averages 95.4 mph with a 12.6 inch vertical drop and a 98% active spin.
Rodon would be an ideal candidate for teams looking for a young pitcher who appears to just keep improving. He would be an ideal second or third slot in the rotation.
Once the lockout ends, Rodon could be in for a multi-year pay day with a club looking for a good, young arm.
