Former Packers fan favorite gives hopeful take on Aaron Rodgers’ future

Former Packers fan favorite John Kuhn believes Aaron Rodgers will stay in Green Bay through next season at the very least.

Packers fans will long remember Kuhn, a former Green Bay fullback who won a Super Bowl and made three Pro Bowls with Aaron Rodgers before leaving the franchise in 2016 for a brief tenure in New Orleans.

Kuhn is a close friend of Rodgers, so he might have an idea as to what the Packers franchise quarterback intends to do after this season. In a CBS Sports Radio interview with Zach Gelb on Thursday, Kuhn gave his take.

“This year has been very good for him. I’ve never seen him as happy and as joyful — and he is really enjoying the game as much as he has this year,” Kuhn said. “I just don’t see a situation where Aaron Rodgers actually leaves Green Bay.”

Before this season, Rodgers let it be known he was unhappy with Packers management. He felt he was ignored in key front office decisions by Brian Gutekunst, and was clearly peeved when the Packers drafted quarterback Jordan Love in the first round in 2020.

Since then, however, Gutekunst and Matt LaFleur got the message. Rodgers is well on his way to winning back-to-back MVPs. In doing so, he’s helped construct the Packers roster due to the trust the front office has in him.

“You can never say 100% with Aaron Rodgers, but I feel pretty confident — especially if they put a good run together in this year’s playoffs — I don’t see Rodgers leaving for greener pastures,” Kuhn continued. “The grass is greener where they water it and I think Green Bay has been watering the lawn pretty good this year.”

Kuhn makes a valid point — the Packers got the message loud and clear, and made sure to give Rodgers more insight. Now, it should pay off in the long run, and potentially with Rodgers’ second Lombardi.
