The Green Bay thought they recovered a Brandon Aiyuk fumble but the refs overturned the call in favor of the 49ers. Did the Packers get screwed?

On a day when the No. 1 seed in the AFC was upset, the Green Bay Packers are trying to avoid the same fate as the NFC’s top dog.

Every play is a potential turning point, which is why Packers fans were undoubtedly elated when Rasul Douglas forced a fumble on Brandon Aiyuk of the 49ers.

It came just after San Francisco regained position because of a fumble, so the momentum swing could have been massive.

The trouble for Green Bay came upon review. The officials overturned the call on the field and ruled that Aiyuk never completed the catch before the defensive back striped it.

Did they get it right? Judge for yourself:

Interpretations of what is and isn’t a catch vary widely from person to person. This one is close, which does make it surprising the refs decided to overturn.

Green Bay wasn’t punished too harshly over the decision. While they could have used the positive momentum, they got the ball back after a sack and punt.
