Trent Williams was hobbled after the 49ers’ big Divisional Round win over the Packers but the San Francisco offensive tackle got good news on his injury.

The edges of seats in San Francisco were worn out on Saturday night as fans watched a nail-biter between the 49ers and Packers at Lambeau Field. Thanks to a blocked punt returned for a touchdown and then a game-winning field goal, though, fans in the Bay Area are happy with their team heading to the NFC Championship Game.

Unfortunately, the gritty victory for the Niners came with some injury concerns for one of the most crucial players: All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams.

Williams was on crutches after the game as he apparently injured the ankle at some point in the third quarter against Green Bay. The good news, though, is that the star offensive tackle underwent X-rays on Sunday and they came back negative.

Trent Williams injury update: 49ers OT’s X-rays come back negative

Now, just because there aren’t any broken bones or anything that would show up on an X-ray doesn’t mean that Williams is out of the woods.

Early indications are that the 49ers will be monitoring Williams’ ankle throughout the week. Given that, it should be expected that we won’t see the star tackle on the practice field all that often this week and, additionally, that fans could be sweating out his availability up until the matchup with the Rams.

All of that being said, though, this is overall a good start to trying to get back to the Super Bowl for this franchise with the X-rays coming back negative. That should point to Williams being on track to play as of now, though there is still a good amount of time to find out more about that.
