Nick Saban and the Alabama football program have picked up a wide receiver from the Georgia Bulldogs. Jermaine Burton is headed to Tuscaloosa.

The Alabama Crimson Tide apparently needed another dominant wide receiver so Alabama head coach Nick Saban went out and picked up Jermaine Burton, who just beat Alabama with the Georgia Bulldogs.

That’s a pretty good addition to Alabama’s already loaded roster.

Burton, in two seasons with the Bulldogs, caught 53 passes for 901 yards and eight touchdowns.

Alabama football: Crimson Tide land former Georgia wide receiver Jermaine Burton

Getting a guy with national title experience is brilliant. Just a solid move all around for Saban to get a national champion added to his roster. And as for Burton, if you actually can beat a team, you might as well join them, right?

On a serious note, this pairing of Burton and Alabama is brilliant all around. It helps put Alabama right back in a spot to be the favorite for the national title and Burton is on a roster that will be more committed to throwing the ball frequently next season. It should work out well for everyone involved.

Burton will be joining a roster that has the reigning Heisman Trophy winner as well as several other talented receivers who will help keep defenses from locking in on him. It’s also worth noting that Alabama throws the ball a lot more frequently and more effectively than Georgia does.

The Crimson Tide ranked second in the SEC in passing yards per game. Georgia ranked seventh. Alabama threw for 5,073 yards, the most in the SEC, while Georgia threw for 3,778 yards, third most in the SEC. There’s a very good chance Burton will have a more productive season in Tuscaloosa than he ever had in Athens.
