Bears name two more finalists for head coaching job
By John Buhler
Dan Quinn and Jim Caldwell join Matt Eberflus as head-coaching candidates getting second interviews for the Chicago Bears vacancy.
The Chicago Bears may have two more finalists for their head-coaching vacancy, as well as another getting his first interview this week.
The first known candidate to receive a second interview from the Bears organization was Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. Chicago has requested second interviews with Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell. New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen is interviewing on Tuesday.
Among these four candidates, which one makes the most sense for the Bears to hire this cycle?

The Bears have not hired a new general manager just yet. However, one top candidate for the job is Colts front office executive Morocco Brown. If he were to replace Ryan Pace at Halas Hall, that might give his Indianapolis colleague Eberflus a very strong shot at the job. While Quinn might have other options, keep an eye on Caldwell who too has a strong Colts organizational connection.
Caldwell may not be a sexy hire, but he did get Indianapolis to a Super Bowl with Peyton Manning as their quarterback. The Lions have not been the same since the Fords fired him for winning more than half of his games. Allen has a miserable time in his first stab as a head coach leading the Silver and Black, but he has been as consistent as they come since resurfacing with New Orleans.
Eberflus being the first finalist speaks volumes, but the Bears seem very interested in Quinn, Caldwell and potentially Allen.
