Adam Schefter reveals whom he thinks Bears will hire as head coach
If you ask ESPN’s Adam Schefter, he thinks the Chicago Bears will be announcing their new head coach in the near future.
Things have been incredibly busy for the Chicago Bears from the moment Week 18 came to a close. After firing both Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy, folks have been waiting to see who would be coming on to take those spots.
Well, Ryan Poles has already been named the team’s new general manager. So, who will be the next head coach of the NFC North side? NFL insider Adam Schefter took to Twitter to reveal he thinks Jim Caldwell is the man for the job.
Adam Schefter thinks former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell will take over for the Bears
Caldwell spent four seasons with the Lions, highlighted by going 11-5 during his first campaign in Detroit. However he was fired on Jan. 1, 2018 after the Lions finished 2017 with a 9-7 mark, missing the playoffs.
Now, though, Caldwell could make a return to the division to take over for Chicago. It was long expected the team was going to can Nagy, and that decision finally came in earlier this month. While Schefter thinks Caldwell will get the job, other finalists Dan Quinn and Matt Eberflus are hoping to get an offer as well.
Poles has quite the decision on his hands. There’s tons of pressure on the Bears to make sure they bring in the right man for the gig. With Justin Fields being the future of this team, the last thing the Bears can do is strikeout with this upcoming hire. No one wants to see Fields’ talents wasted in Chicago. This is the first time Bears fans have been excited about a signal-caller in years.
We should find out soon enough who the next Chicago head coach will be. Don’t be surprised if it ends up being Caldwell, though.
