Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jeff Garcia blasted ESPN’s Mina Kimes for her Jimmy Garoppolo criticism.

Garoppolo has been universally criticized all season long. In fact, even the 49ers themselves question how far Jimmy G can take them, hence why they traded up to draft Trey Lance in the first place.

“Jimmy Garoppolo isn’t the reason they’re winning,” Kimes said during her appearance on ESPN’s ‘First Take’. “They’re winning with him, but not because of him … He posted the second-lowest QBR in 15 years [against the Packers].”

“Since joining the Niners, he has two touchdowns and five interceptions in the postseason,” she continued. “These are not advanced statistics. The dude is just simply not helping them win.”

That’s…seemingly fair? Garoppolo isn’t exactly out here doing anything memorable. Yet, Jeff Garcia was somehow insulted by said opinion.

“Who the hell is Mina Kimes and when is the last time she threw a touchdown pass in a game?” Garcia said in an Instagram post. “Never! Ever! has she taken a snap or can truly understand the ability, the mindset, the physical and mental toughness, that it takes to play the QB position or any position in the NFL…”

49ers: Jeff Garcia criticizes Mina Kimes, which immediately backfires

Numerous NFL players and reporters quickly came to Kimes’ defense, not that she even needs it. ESPN’s rising star quickly put Garcia’s criticism behind her, destroying him with one simple comment.

Kimes is an NFL analyst. It’s her job to give opinions on football, and she’s very qualified to do so. Her years of experience prove just that, and despite Garcia’s decade-plus of mediocre quarterback play, he doesn’t get to pick and choose who gets to talk about football.

That’s not how the world works.
