The Pro Football Writers of America’s PFWA On-Field Awards named the greatest NFL stars in 2021 — but the list didn’t include any of the Kansas City Chiefs.
With the Associated Press giving out their honors shortly before the Super Bowl, the PWFA has already designated their award winners for the 2021 NFL season.
The PFWA Awards, which are often an indication into how the AP voters will be swayed, features a ballot of impressive players and even a historic first.
Aaron Rodgers won MVP, Joe Burrow is the Comeback Player of the Year, and Cooper Kupp is the first wide receiver to win the PFWA Offensive Player of the Year.

Although players from nearly every NFL playoff team were represented, one team that is in the running for the Super Bowl was noticeably absent: the Kansas City Chiefs.

No Chiefs were named to PFWA All-NFL team
In what can be considered a win for fans, there was a Kelce named to the PFWA All-NFL team, but it wasn’t Travis. Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce was named to the team. The Chiefs Wire editor Charles Goldman voted for Creed Humphrey over Kelce, and it wasn’t the first time Humphrey was snubbed in favor of Kelce. The same thing happened when the NFL announced their All-Pro team last week.
Humphrey, who has a case for OROY after a phenomenal rookie season, was named as the center for the PFWA’s All-Rookie Center. Chiefs guard Trey Smith and Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton.
The PFWA selected Dallas Cowboys LB Micah Parsons as the 2021 Rookie and Defensive Rookie of the Year; Cincinnati WR Ja'Marr Chase selected as the Offensive Rookie of the Year. Full All-Rookie honors: pic.twitter.com/B2Qx44F91L

Even though veterans like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce weren’t named to the PFWA All-NFL team, the promising takeaway from the All-Rookie awards is that KC have drafted a successful class of rookie that will allow Kansas City to prevail in the coming years. As crucial as Mahomes and his offensive weapons are, building an offensive line to support his mobility has been necessary — and by their resulting record and playoff berth, has made all the difference in the world.
Still, the PFWA signal that it’s unlikely any Chiefs player will win the biggest individual awards in the coming weeks — even if the team does win the Super Bowl. That doesn’t change who the Chiefs recognize as “the best TE in the NFL.”
So glad the best TE in the NFL was mic’d up for that game. pic.twitter.com/FuQOM8iJnN
