Twitter is sounding off as the Kentucky Wildcats continue to prove that they have a remarkably high ceiling. With ease, Kentucky demolished the Kansas Jayhawks.
The Kentucky Wildcats look like a pretty good team. That tends to ring true for just about any part of the season, but it’s definitely a true statement during moments like this when Kentucky is dismantling the Kansas Jayhawks.
This contest, what was billed as and set up to be the highlight of the Big 12/SEC Challenge, turned out to be anything but interesting for folks who wanted to watch a competitive college basketball game. People who were emotionally invested in seeing Kentucky do well? Well, they had to have been thrilled with this game.
That’s because Kentucky beat Kansas 80-62 and the game probably could have been even uglier than that.
Now Twitter is reacting to the lopsided Kentucky win.
College basketball Twitter reacts after Kentucky Wildcats crushes Kansas Jayhawks
This win, beating Kansas like this, is huge for the Wildcats. Kentucky is working to prove just how good it can be. When the Wildcats are focused, they’re just about unstoppable.
Have NEVER seen Kansas beaten like this at Phog Allen Fieldhouse. Texas won big in Lawrence last season, but it didn't win in front of a packed crowd because of COVID.

Kentucky can win a national title --- this season.
no place like it but Jayhawks are in trouble https://t.co/UOC441jEP0

The Wildcats are good. Really, really good. This team absolutely looks like an actual title contender this year.
With the blowout win over Kansas by Kentucky, the @SEC has secured the win over the @Big12Conference currently 6-3

FINAL: No. 12 Kentucky 80, No. 5 Kansas 62

Nothing better than a statement-sending win over a fellow blue blood with your fans taking over the best venue in the sport with chants and cheers. On a night when your best player, TyTy Washington, only scores 2.
That one felt GOOD.
That could be an issue for the rest of the SEC.
Kentucky’s win tonight was its largest road win against a top 5 team in school history

Kentucky just absolutely pummeled Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse. The final score was 80-62 and it wasn’t even that close.
— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanHoops) January 30, 2022
It was just the 16th loss in the building in 302 games in Bill Self’s career.
That was about as impressive of a win as I’ve seen all season. From anyone.
FINAL: Kentucky 80, Kansas 62.

I've been saying since mid-December that this is the first time of the Calipari era, that Kentucky is *underrated* in January - can't say that anymore.
That was as dominant a win as anyone has had all season.
The Cats have... ARRIVED
It could also very well be an issue for any team that gets the unfortunate opportunity to be matched up against Kentucky once March Madness rolls around. If the Wildcats continue to improve and play up to their potential, expect them to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
