Liverpool signs Luis Diaz and officially steals Porto winger from Tottenham

Massive news came in on Sunday morning with Liverpool FC closing the transfer of star Porto winger Luis Diaz. 

With the January Transfer Window about to close out, Liverpool FC has made quite the move in landing one of the top, rising wingers from South America. That’s right, Liverpool has officially landed Colombian sensation Luis Diaz from Porto.

On Saturday, the two sides were in the final stages of negotiations, with Fabrizio Romano reporting things were able to get done here. Diaz is currently with the Colombian national team getting ready to take on Argentina on Tuesday, but then he’ll fly over to Liverpool soon after.

Diaz really made a splash during the Champions League last season with Porto, opening the eyes up Liverpool supporters everywhere. Then in the Copa America over the summer, he truly was fantastic for the Colombians.

Diaz had made it clear he’s always wanted to play in the Premier League, so making the move to Anfield will be a dream come true for him. At the same time, this news also stings for everyone who loves Tottenham.

Spurs had been linked to Diaz for a while now and the expectation was that he’d make his way to London. Instead, Diaz will be moving to England, just not to the capital. Instead, he’s Merseyside-bound and the Liverpool faithful can’t wait to see him in action.

It’s wild to think that the offensive attack for the Reds could get any better, but Diaz flying down the pitch for Jurgen Klopp is sure to be quite the showing. Following the international break, Liverpool is all set to get back on the field to take on Cardiff City in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Feb. 6. We very well could see Diaz make his club debut then.
