Peyton Manningās return to Saturday Night Live resulted in the legendary quarterback providing the perfect Weekend Update.Ā
Many people only know Peyton Manning for his time as a NFL quarterback, but heās also apparently a pretty big fan of NetflixāsĀ Emily in Paris.
Manning, who is an underrated comedian in his own right, made his way back to Saturday Night Live and showed off his love for the Netflix show. During the Weekend Update segment on SNL, Manning jokingly admitted that he skipped over watching the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs as he chose to watch Emily in Paris instead.
āYou probably have a better perspective on this than almost anyone in history. How great were those games?ā Colin Jost asked.
āYeah, I heard they were incredible,ā Manning replied.
When pressed to clarify, Manning very eloquently explained how he didnāt actually tune in to watch any football.
āYeah. Sounds like all the teams did a great job. Lots of passing and all the touchdowns were in the end zone,ā Manning said, providing some interesting, uh, insight on the Divisional Round.
āSo you didnāt watch any of the games?ā Jost asked.
āWell, I planned to, but I had an hour to kill before the first game. So, just for fun, I pun on the first episode of Emily in Paris season two. And I watched the entire season straight through. Oh my God, Colin, this show has everythingā Manning explained.
That seems reasonable enough.
Peyton Manning has a blast on SNL, provides perfect Weekend Update
āRomance, adventure, sensuality, culture, a fresh take on feminism, finally! Not to mention a culinary tapestry so rich I can only describe it as food porn,ā Manning said, raving about the show.
Manning seems to be having the time of his life ever since he retired from playing football a few years back. When he was asked about whether or not Tom Brady was set to retire, Manning endorsed the decision to step away from the game. But only because retirement would provide some more time to watch Emily in Paris.
āI think itās probably just speculation. But if it were me, I probably would retire if it game me more time to watch Emily in Paris,ā Manning said.
Manningās ability to insert himself into the media world after retiring has been full of comedy and bright moments. ESPNās Monday Night Football Manningcast might just be the best way to experience the NFL and SNL appearances seem natural for Manning.
Manning is definitely having fun with his retirement and who can blame him? Why not kick back and crack jokes regularly?
