Joe Burrow can join exclusive club with Super Bowl win
By John Buhler
Joe Burrow can join an exclusive club or two, as well as start a new one, if he can lead the Cincinnati Bengals to a Super Bowl victory.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is one win away from making history.
In his second year out of LSU, Burrow has taken the NFL by storm. He has carried a long downtrodden AFC North franchise to heights it has not been to since the 1980s. Cincinnati will be playing in its third Super Bowl in franchise history, hoping to finally hoist the Lombardi Trophy. All that stands in their way is Matthew Stafford, Sean McVay and the rest of the Los Angeles Rams.
To date, no quarterback has ever won the Heisman Trophy, a national championship and the Super Bowl. A trio of Pro Football Hall of Famers have done it playing other positions: Tony Dorsett (Pitt, Cowboys), Marcus Allen (USC, Raiders) and Charles Woodson (Michigan, Packers).
Should Burrow and the Bengals beat Los Angeles, he would become the third starting quarterback to win a national championship and a Super Bowl, joining two other Joes in Joe Namath (Alabama, Jets) and Joe Montana (Notre Dame, 49ers).

What has made it so incredibly difficult for this quarterbacking parlay to happen is this. Not only does he have to win a national title during his time in school, but he has to be the best player in the country before he turns pro. Once that happens, he is almost certainly going to a tough situation professionally and will have to overcome that, which is the case for Burrow in Cincinnati.
Most players are lucky if they get to play in even one Super Bowl, much less hoist the Lombardi Trophy. While Burrow is only in his second NFL season out of LSU, keep in mind that 1980s passing prodigy Dan Marino never got to another Super Bowl after his second season quarterbacking the Miami Dolphins. Look for Burrow to keep on making the impossible probable.
Burrow is one win away from winning a national title and a Super Bowl in only a three-year span.
