A 5-star running back recruit from Alabama’s 2021 class is entering the transfer portal.
The Alabama Crimson Tide nearly ended their 2021 season on a high note, but they lost 33-18 to the Georgia Bulldogs in the CFP National Championship Game. With the season over, the Crimson Tide are set to lose one of their top recruits from the 2021 class.
According to multiple reports, running back Camar Wheaton has entered the transfer portal on Tuesday evening.
Alabama loses five-star recruit to transfer portal
This comes days after Chris Hummer of 247 Sports reported that Wheaton was no longer with Alabama. He was not listed in the student directory and was “away from the team,” but was not in the transfer portal. That now changes with Wheaton officially entering the portal.
Wheaton, out of Garland, Texas, was the third-ranked running back in the entire 2021 recruiting class and the sixth-ranked prospect in the state, per 247 Sports. He received a total of 27 offers from schools, including Alabama. Some of the other schools included LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame Oklahoma.
The freshman did not play in a single game in his freshman year, due to a meniscus injury that he suffered in practice.
We will keep you updated on Wheaton and which program he ends up transferring to when details are provided.
