5. Jacoby Mathews

Jacoby Mathews is the top unsigned player from the state of Louisiana and LSU would like to make him their fourth signee from the top six in-state prospects. There is competition for the four-star safety of course. He has 247Sports Crystal Ball nods to Texas A&M and Florida is also chasing hard. The Tigers got the final visit and have the local edge.

Prediction: LSU

4. Josh Conerly Jr.

Five-star linemen don’t grow on trees most places so the pursuit of offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. has been fierce. In fact, he’s ready to let it run a bit longer. On Monday, Conerly announced he has not committed to anyone and plans to make a decision in March. That means Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon and USC all still have quite a while to make an impression.

Prediction: Too early

3. Shemar Stewart

Three schools are hoping to make a big splash to end the recruiting cycle with five-star defensive lineman Shemar Stewart, but only one can grab an NLI from the 6-foot-6, 272-pounder. He’s visited Miami and Georgia in recent weeks while Texas A&M has been the favorite in the clubhouse since the end of the year.

Prediction: Texas A&M

2. Devon Campbell

Devon Campbell will play on one side of the Red River Showdown with Texas and Oklahoma as his final two. On Wednesday he’ll reveal which one. The Longhorns have been the favorites for a long time. If the Sooners pull off a miracle it would be a shock.

Prediction: Texas

1. Harold Perkins

Harold Perkins is the top unsigned player in the class, ranking No.  8 nationally in the 247Sports composite. The five-star linebacker was briefly committed to Texas A&M but decommitted last week, giving LSU and Florida the chance for a final push. This one seems wide open. Perkins took his final official visit to Baton Rouge along with Jacoby Mathews. Momentum could be on the Tigers side, but any of the three options wouldn’t surprise.

Prediction: LSU
