2. Miami Dolphins
When youāre talking about under-the-radar but intriguing landing spots for Mathieu, the Dolphins have to come to mind.
Miami actually has a strong overall secondary with the likes of Xavien Howard, Byron Jones, Noah Igbinoghene and Jevon Holland on the roster right now. However, that doesnāt mean that they should turn their noses up at the notion of signing the Honey Badger in free agency.
All told, Mathieu would fit quite nicely into this group as the safety paired with Holland on the back end of the secondary ā and also moving all over the field. The addition of the Chiefs safety would undoubtedly give the Dolphins one of the more fearsome top-to-bottom secondaries in the NFL heading into the 2022 campaign.
More importantly, Miami is absolutely flush with cash and cap room heading into this offseason with $64 million to work with. Yes, some of that needs to be spent on the offensive line to build around and protect Tua Tagovailoa. With that said, adding more to an already strong defense shouldnāt be considered out of the realm of possibilities.
