New York Jets Mock Draft – 2nd Round

Daxton Hill. 30. S. Pick Analysis. Michigan. 35. player. Scouting Report

The Jets’ defense was their biggest issue in 2021 and the safety spot was arguably the unit’s biggest problem. With Marcus Maye likely to walk in free agency, the Jets will need two new starters, so look for Douglas to try and sign one in free agency while landing Hill in the second round out of Michigan.

Hill was a versatile defender for the Wolverines who showed the ability to cover in the slot but the Jets can use him as their free safety thanks to Hill’s tremendous range. 2020 draft pick Ashtyn Davis hasn’t impressed in two years with New York so the hope here would be for Hill to beat him out as a starter in camp.

Pick Analysis. WR. Western Michigan. player. 30. Scouting Report. Skyy Moore. 38

This pick comes to New York from the Carolina Panthers as part of last year’s Sam Darnold trade. While the need to improve the defense is evident, Douglas also has to balance that goal with adding extra pieces to support Wilson on offense and grabbing a wide receiver in the second round for a second straight year in Moore would be a tremendous help.

Unrelated to last year’s second-round pick Elijah Moore, Skyy Moore is a shifty weapon who can create after the catch and broke an FBS-high 26 tackles in 2021. Offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur came from San Francisco with Saleh and can create a role for Skyy Moore that is a hybrid between the functions Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk serve in the 49ers’ offense.
