19. Randall McDaniel, OG, Minnesota Vikings

He was as reliable as any guard you will find in the league in any era. Randall McDaniel was a first-round draft choice by the Minnesota Vikings in 1988 – the 19th overall selection that year. Over the next 14 seasons with the Purple Gang and later with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he would suit up for 222 regular-season games and start all but two of them. He would be part of 11 teams that would reach the playoffs, nine with the Vikings and two with the Bucs.

The former Arizona State Sun Devils’ star would be named to 12 consecutive Pro Bowls from 1989-2000. He was a member of that phenomenal 1998 Vikings’ team that put up an amazing 556 points on the way to hosting the NFC Championship Game. Unfortunately, it wasn’t in the cards for those 15-1 Vikings, who would fall in overtime to those “Dirty Birds” from Atlanta. Minnesota would return to the conference title game in 2000, but by that time McDaniel was playing for Tony Dungy in Tampa. The seven-time All-Pro was part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2009 in his third year of eligibility.

The 6’3, 276-pound pro paved the way for some of the league’s more potent offenses during his stay -foot-ith the Purple Gang. Unfortunately, McDaniel only had that one opportunity to reach a Super Bowl and the team came up short.
