Philadelphia 76ers — Allen Iverson

1996-2007, 2009-10
27.6 points per game
6.1 assists per game
3.9 rebounds per game

Allen Iverson is one of the greatest playmakers to ever hit a basketball court. When Iverson was at his peak, his impact on the game was unlike anyone not named Jordan. Even Kobe Bryant can’t say he took over a game in the same way Iverson could.

Iverson started his career after he was the first-overall pick out of Georgetown. He came into Philadelphia with some controversy, going to jail after a bowling alley confrontation turned into a brawl. That conviction was thrown out, but it didn’t end those casting doubt on his first-overall selection.

Iverson was immediately great. He scored 23 points per game in his rookie season. It took him three years to win the NBA scoring title for the first time. He would win it three more times as a member of the 76ers. He put Sixers basketball on the map.

Iverson’s greatest accomplishment came in 2001 when he carried the 76ers to the NBA Finals with Aaron McKie and Dikembe Mutumbo. Not only did he take this very bad team all the way through a weakened Eastern Conference, but he even took over Game 1 against the Los Angeles Lakers and won the game. That was the only game the 76ers won, but it was an epic performance.
