3. Trade for Collin Sexton

This one might look weird on paper as the Cleveland Cavaliers, another solid playoff team, is selling an asset to a team far outside contention. However, it was very well known that the Cavs were looking into trade partners for Collin Sexton in the offseason. The rumors have changed course, with the Cavs saying they want to keep Sexton, but anything is possible.

The Spurs should be looking for these distressed assets who they can build around. If the Spurs truly want to make it another dynasty, it’s time to take some risks. Collin Sexton is a player who had a lot of upside, but now he’s coming off a major injury. If the Spurs are willing to spend a little too much for Sexton, the Cavs could be willing to make the move.

Sexton would be a really good player to fit into the Spurs lineup. This would give the Spurs the option to have a three-man backcourt next season with Dejounte Murray, Derrick White, and Sexton. That would be an unconventional way to play, and it might lead to the Spurs getting wins on the surprise factor alone.

There might be another move that could work in conjunction with this. It would be a move to get a superstar forward who also hasn’t lived up to the hype.
