Bengals Super Bowl appearances
Prior to their trip to Super Bowl LVI, the Bengals have appeared in the big game twice in their franchise’s history. Cincinnati made their first trip in the 1981 season, where they lost 26-21 to the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XVI. The Bengals returned to the Super Bowl in the 1988 campaign, but they once again lost to the 49ers, this time by the score of 20-16.

The Bengals have an overall playoff record of 8-14.
Ahead of this postseason, Cincinnati’s had not earned a playoff victory since the 1990 season. They had gone 0-8 following that last win. Their luck changed after defeating the Raiders in the Wild Card Round, their first win in 31 years. Now, they are one win away from winning their first Lombardi Trophy.
