Chris Jones guarantees Chiefs Super Bowl appearance next season
By Mark Powell
Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Chris Jones guaranteed his team would make the Super Bowl next season.
Jones is an elite weapon on defense, frequently making the lives of opposing quarterbacks hell. He made his third straight Pro Bowl appearance while registering nine sacks on a Chiefs defensive line which values him immensely.
However, Jones knows appearing in a Pro Bowl isn’t his ultimate goal. The Chiefs lost to this Bengals team at home at Arrowhead in front of their own fans. They had a double-digit lead, but played overconfident, especially on the offensive side of the ball. On defense, they failed to stop Burrow when they had to.
No one feels the pain of Chiefs fans more than their own players. With those same fans surely tuned in to Super Bowl 56, Jones let them know to expect the Chiefs next year. They’re coming.
Chris Jones: Chiefs will win AFC next year
Jones didn’t go as far as to say the Chiefs will win Super Bowl 57, but he might as well be. No one merely wants to get to the Super Bowl — Patrick Mahomes and Co. would be there to win it.
To be fair, Jones isn’t exactly going out on a limb. Kansas City would’ve been favored to win the game had they made it, especially with that high-powered offense. They have most of their pieces coming back, and a young offensive line only getting better with age.
Assuming they can upgrade defensively and through the draft, there’s no reason the Chiefs shouldn’t be favored in the AFC, even with the Bengals currently reigning supreme.
