2. Use that created cap space to re-sign Davante Adams and De’Vondre Campbell

Though Green Bay may be committed to doing things out of character for the sake of appeasing Rodgers, this is not an organization that spends a ton of coin on other team’s former players in NFL free agency. The Packers will occasionally dabble in free agency (Charles Woodson, Julius Peppers, etc.), but their two biggest targets are internal: Davante Adams and De’Vondre Campbell.

Adams has been Rodgers’ go-to receiving target for years now. While the former Fresno State standout could potentially want to link up with his college teammate Derek Carr in Las Vegas, the Packers win games far more regularly than the Silver and Black. If the Packers are not able to get Adams back on the team under a new contract, they will have failed miserably in their endeavor.

As for Campbell, while he is not a homegrown product, the former Atlanta Falcons linebacker was a huge part of the 2021 defense. This was his best season as a pro coming out of Minnesota. While the Packers hit a home run with him on a one-year deal, they are certainly will have to pay up if they want to retain him on a new contract. He is a guy to build a championship defense with.

If the Packers can re-sign Adams and Campbell on multi-year deals, this will help keep Rodgers.
