Kansas City Chiefs Mock Draft – 2nd Round

Scouting Report. CB. player. 62. 124. Pick Analysis. Florida. Kaiir Elam

Moving on to the second round, the Chiefs hold the No. 62 overall pick. While the Chiefs could go with a defensive end in the first round, you can’t forget about the help this team needs in the secondary.

That’s why a cornerback in the second round would be smart. What about Florida’s Kaiir Elam? The 6-2, 195-pound defensive back was a three-year contributor for the Gators. In 2021, Elam posted 29 total tackles, five pass deflections and one interception.

Known for his length and strong vertical leap, Elam has been moving up on draft boards. You can’t teach 6-foot-2 for a cornerback. The Chiefs pass-defense has left plenty to be desired in recent years. We saw in the postseason that they could use some help.

Elam isn’t the kind of player who’s going to step in right away and become the star of the unit, but he most certainly could make an impact in 2022. Just like Enagbare, Kansas City should make a move to draft Elam if he’s still available at No. 62.
