Richard Sherman attacks Matthew Stafford’s Hall-of-Fame resume
If you ask veteran cornerback Richard Sherman, he doesn’t think a Super Bowl win should be enough for Matthew Stafford to get into the Hall of Fame.
From the moment the Los Angeles Rams took down the Bengals to win Super Bowl 56, plenty of people started talking about Matthew Stafford. Not only was his no-look pass a thing of beauty, but NFL fans out there think he’s now a lock to head to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Not everyone feels this way. Just ask Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Richard Sherman about that. On Twitter, Sherman didn’t hesitate in saying that he doesn’t think Stafford should make his way to Canton down the road.
Richard Sherman is not on the Matthew Stafford Hall of Fame bandwagon
Do you think Sherman has a point? In his tweet, he pointed out that Stafford has only been to one Pro Bowl, hasn’t been an MVP, hasn’t been an All-Pro and more. Entering the 2021 campaign, Stafford had never even won a postseason game either.
That changed in a big way this winter of course, with Stafford helping the Rams bring home the Super Bowl. In the meeting with the Bengals, Stafford finished things throwing for 283 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. His game-winner to Cooper Kupp late in the fourth quarter will be replayed by Rams fans for the rest of their lives.
There’s no taking away how great Stafford was this year in taking over the offense for Sean McVay and his coaching staff. It was a year to remember. However, is this enough for him to get into the Hall of Fame? Plenty of people agree with Sherman, while others think he couldn’t be more wrong. This will surely be a topic of conversation for quite some time.
