Tiger Woods got golf fans excited about potentially returning to the course by The Masters in 2022, but is that an actual possibility?

The Genesis Invitational is this week at Riviera Country Club, which means that Tiger Woods is hosting the tournament and also that it’s been one year on the PGA Tour calendar since he was involved in the horrific single-car accident that left him with a severely injured leg.

Over the past few months, however, Woods has started to get golf fans buzzing about his potential return to PGA Tour and potential major championship competition. He was ripping all kinds of shots at the Hero World Challenge (which he also hosted) and then competed with his son, Charlie, at the PNC Championship. That led to people wondering if he was going to be back among the Azaleas at Augusta National Golf Club for The Masters in April.

For those who were optimistic about that, though, Woods poured a bit of cold water on any hope that he’ll be at The Masters.

Tiger Woods return: Will The Cat be back for The Masters in 2022?

Speaking with the media on Wednesday at Riviera, Woods raised valid concerns about his game and the possibility of a return anytime soon. Not only did he say that his practice has been “limited”, but he also said that walking a tournament could be problematic right now.

That doesn’t sound like a guy who will be walking one of the hardest walks in the golfing world in less than two months.

Even still, things are still trending upward for an eventual Tiger Woods return. He is practicing, he is working on being able to walk a tournament for 72 holes, and he is talking like a player who will be back eventually.

Unfortunately, it just doesn’t look like that return will come at The Masters.
