Now would be the time to break the bank to add Terron Armstead at left tackle

There is never going to be a better time for the Bengals to address their most glaring hole than right now. They need to get better at left tackle. While Reiff was serviceable initially, him not being able to play in the latter part of the season was detrimental to the Bengals’ chances of upsetting the Rams in Super Bowl 56. This is really simple: Back up the BRINKS truck for Terron Armstead.

In his early 30s, the three-time Pro Bowler is in the midst of his prime professionally. While one would have thought he would be a lifer with the New Orleans Saints, a lot has changed in the last few years. Drew Brees retired. Sean Payton retired. Michael Thomas got hurt. And Alvin Kamara got arrested. The Saints are about to hit the roughest patch the team has seen in two decades.

While the Saints have a passionate fanbase and are one bad season away from landing their next franchise quarterback, who is to say their golden age is not firmly in the rearview mirror now? As the Saints’ future looks bleak, the Bengals’ looks incredibly bright. If Armstead is the guy that keeps Burrow upright, he could earn a bronze bust in Canton while donning his new tiger stripes.

Brown might have longer to play, but Armstead is the more likely tackle to come to the Bengals.
