3. Top free-agent landing spots for Jameis Winston – Pittsburgh Steelers

In terms of clear quarterback needs, one of the few teams with a more immediate need than Washington is Pittsburgh. Franchise icon Ben Roethlisberger retired after the 2021 season, creating an attractive job opening with one of the NFL’s most stable franchises.

That stability could prove to be beneficial for Winston, who could be looking to land on his third team in the past four years. The Steelers are also coming off a playoff campaign in 2021 that came despite average play from Roethlisberger, an area that could be upgraded with the present version of Winston.

The setup for Winston is solid as well since Pittsburgh has a solid running game with Najee Harris and a top pass-catcher in Diontae Johnson. The drawback here is that the Steelers’ offensive line needs work, which could lead Winston to consider his options if Pittsburgh can’t sell him on a clear plan to fix it.

The Steelers would also love the fact that Winston is known for his big arm, which is a big advantage when dealing with the swirling winds at Heinz Field late in the season. Winston would be an excellent fall-back plan for the Steelers if they can’t land one of the big fish in a trade.
