2. Top free-agent landing spots for Jameis Winston – Denver Broncos

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the Broncos will have a new quarterback in 2022. The combo platter of Bridgewater and Drew Lock didn’t get the job done for Denver as the organization appears ready to win if it can get competent quarterback play.

New head coach Nathaniel Hackett has an excellent offensive background and should be able to grow Denver’s passing game with the right passers. Hackett’s Green Bay connections have led to plenty of speculation that the Broncos will try to pry Rodgers from the Packers, but if the future Hall-of-Famer opts to stay put rolling with Lock or Bridgewater again isn’t a good option.

Winston would be a good fit here since Hackett’s system could bring out the best from him. Denver also has an abundance of talent at wide receiver, including youngsters like Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton, along with an excellent backfield tandem featuring Melvin Gordon (who is a free agent) and Javonte Williams.

The idea of selling Winston as the guy to compete with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert in the AFC West isn’t ideal but if the Broncos can’t land Rodgers they’ll need to upgrade under center in order to contend for the division title. Winston offers that upgrade while giving Denver the financial flexibility to continue to upgrade the roster around him.
