WWE fans reacted to Goldberg’s match against Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber 2022.
Following Royal Rumble 2022, Goldberg made his return to WWE for the first time since last October. On the Feb. 4 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Goldberg confronted Roman Reigns and challenged him for the Universal Championship, which is taking place at the Elimination Chamber event in Jeddah Saudi Arabia. This is what Goldberg confirmed numerous times as the last match on his current contract with the company.
Goldberg and Reigns kicked off the main card of the Elimination Chamber event. While Goldberg did hit two spears in the match, Reigns ultimately got Goldberg to pass out in a guillotine choke to retain his championship.
Here is what wrestling fans and media shared their thoughts about Goldberg’s potential last match with WWE.

Roman Reigns does what Kevin Owens and The Fiend could NOT do and keeps his Universal title by putting down Bill Goldberg. The match itself was fine. Enjoy retirement, Big Bill. #WWEChamber

WWE fans react to Goldberg’s match against Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber
This matchup between Goldberg and Reigns was supposed to be held two years ago at WrestleMania 36. Goldberg was the Universal Champion at the time, with Reigns challenging him. However, Reigns withdrew from the match due to the coronavirus pandemic. Reigns was replaced on the card by Braun Strowman, who defeated Goldberg to win the Universal Championship.
Goldberg rejoined WWE in 2016, where he defeated Brock Lesnar in under two minutes at Survivor Series.Since then, Goldberg appeared sporadically for huge matches. He competed in 12 total bouts, seven of which were for a major championship.
On Saturday, Feb. 19, Reigns has held the title for over 500 days. That now continues, as Reigns will defend his championship against Brock Lesnar, who won the Men’s Royal Rumble match, at WrestleMania 38 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
As for Goldberg, it remains to be seen if this will be his final match with the company.
