Round 5: Ellis Brooks

Brooks is still relatively inexperienced since he only comes into this draft on the heels of one season as a starter at Penn State. Despite that drawback, he still flashed high-level speed from the inside linebacker spot which makes him a quality selection on Day 3.

He may never put on enough weight to be anything more than an average starter, but his speed and willingness to attack the line of scrimmage give him a chance to become something more. The Packers need more options on the inside and Brooks can give them that after a full preseason of intense coaching.

Round 7: Julius Turner

Turner was highly productive for Rutgers despite being undersized at the defensive tackle position. He can give the Packers depth behind Kenny Clark at tackle, but he might be an even better fit as an edge in their base 3-4 setup.

Round 7: Gerrit Prince

The Packers’ struggled at tight end last season after Robert Tonyan went down to injury. Prince is a former wide receiver who shows a surprising willingness to throw his body around when blocking. He doesn’t have blazing speed, but he can develop into a solid No. 2 tight end for a team that likes to use a lot of formations.

Round 7: Ty Chandler

Running back isn’t a big need for the Packers, but Chandler would be an interesting guy to bring into training camp. He was productive on the ground at both North Carolina and Tennessee but he flashed more receiving skills as a Volunteer. It might be tough to stash him on the practice squad, but the Packers could keep him on the main roster if he can find a way to make a mark on special teams.
