South. Tennessee Titans. player. Scouting Report. AFC. 2. 35. Pick Analysis

Mike Gesicki could link up with the best team in the AFC South over in Nashville

Though they are not in a good situation when it comes to the salary cap, the Tennessee Titans could be a prime landing spot for Gesicki in his high-profile free agency. This is a team that won the AFC South for the second consecutive year and had home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs. Of course, they blew it in the AFC Divisional round to the Cincinnati Bengals, but this team is solid.

Tennessee has a lot of weapons offensively. From A.J. Brown and Julio Jones outside the numbers, to Ryan Tannehill under center, to Derrick Henry being the bell-cow back that everybody who loves football loves, the Titans could use an upgrade at tight end. This might be the piece that helps them three-peat in the AFC South and test their luck against the upper crust of the conference.

Tennessee does not have a state income tax, so that could help in contract negotiations with someone like Gesicki who has that going for him in Florida. However, what is the Titans’ ceiling with this current core? Tannehill is good, but does not hold a candle to the very best quarterbacks in the AFC. While they could get to a Super Bowl, it feels like it would only be a one-off venture.

By going to the Titans, Gesicki can link up with a team trying to take the next step as a contender.
