Tottenham fans were riding high off their victory over Manchester City but 19th-place Burnley brought Spurs and their Top 4 hopes back down to earth.
Life comes at you fast in sports. Tottenham fans can attest to that right now.
On Saturday, Spurs strengthened their Top 4 challenge in the Premier League with a thrilling victory over Manchester City at the top of the table.
On Wednesday, they went away to face relegation-threatened Burnley and fell flat on their face.
Tottenham’s official Twitter account didn’t even share the score in their full-time tweet.

Why do we do this, again and again? How do we do it, beating City and losing to Burnley in the space of 4 days?

Spurs have reignited the title race as well as the relegation battle in less than a week, all whilst managing to sabotage their own top four hopes. You'd think the neutrals would love us by now.. #thfc

Burnley have won only two of their last 33 PL home games against Big Six opposition. Both were vs Spurs.#BURTOT pic.twitter.com/leunQBXfoj
The wild swing of emotions for Tottenham began when they went into added time against Manchester City leading 2-1. The Citizens struck back with a Riyad Mahrez penalty in the 92nd minute to even things up. Harry Kane delivered the heroic header in the 95th minute to restore the lead and grab all three points.
The game against Burnley was less dramatic and more painful. Tottenham had most of the possession but struggled to do anything with it. Burnley took advantage with a goal from Ben Mee in the 71st minute.
Spurs still have two games in hand, so they’re not out of the running for a Champions League place just yet. Having said that, they currently sit in eighth place with 39 points, seven behind Manchester united in fourth. Arsenal are two points ahead in sixth and have an additional game in hand potentially working in their favor.
