According to PWInsider.com, fan-favorite Cesaro is no longer under contract with WWE.

There has been some shocking news in WWE in recent weeks, such as “Stone Cold” Steve Austin being asked to come out of retirement for a match at WrestleMania 38, and Cody Rhodes leaving All Elite Wrestling, where he could potentially join WWE. Now, there is some surprising contract news regarding a fan favorite.

According to PWInsider.com, Cesaro has quietly left WWE after his current contract expired. PWInsider.com reports that the two sides did not come to an agreement on a new deal, with a source saying telling the news outlet that the company did offer a contract extension, which was turned down.

Cesaro leaving WWE after contract expires

Last year, it was reported that Cesaro signed a new contract with WWE. The company confirmed to Fightful Select (paid subscription) that the contract agreed to last year was only for one-year, hence the expiration of the deal on Thursday, Feb. 24.

With his deal expiring, he is not subject to the 90-day non-compete clause, meaning that he could sign anywhere he chooses and appear at any time.

Cesaro joined WWE back in 2011 and became a fan favorite due to his wrestling ability and the top-tier quality of his matches when given time.

Through his tenure with the company, Cesaro won the United States Championship once, the Raw Tag Team Championships five times, the SmackDown Tag Team Championship twice and the inaugural Andre the Giants Memorial Battle Royal trophy at WrestleMania 30.

In 2021, Cesaro had a feud with Seth Rollins, with the first match taking place at WrestleMania 37. Cesaro defeated Rollins and was Roman Reigns’ next challenger for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania Backlash, which Reigns won. He and Rollins reignited their feud, with the latter winning their next two singles matches at Hell in a Cell and in a Money in the Bank qualifying match on the July 9 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

Cesaro’s final televised match arrived on the Feb. 11 episode of SmackDown, where he lost to Happy Corbin in under four minutes.
