Aaron Rodgers’ backup comes to his defense in Greg Jennings attack
You can add quarterback Kurt Benkert to the list of people who have taken issue with Greg Jennings’ comments on Aaron Rodgers.
Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings has really made his feelings on Aaron Rodgers clear. Jennings, who has long had issues with his former signal-caller, blasted Rodgers and called him selfish for how he’s handled the rumors this offseason.
Plenty of people have come out to defend Rodgers, with backup quarterback Kurt Benkert letting Jennings know he’s in the wrong on Twitter. The two are now in the middle of a little beef themselves.
Kurt Benkert isn’t going to let Greg Jennings bad mouth Aaron Rodgers
Benkert didn’t hold back here and neither did Jennings. These two are quite passionate on the topic and it’s easy to see why. Jennings still loves the Packers and he’s having a tough time understanding what’s going on with Rodgers.
On the other side, Benkert doesn’t appreciate anyone going after his friend and partner in the quarterbacks room. He’s not going to let anyone, even Jennings, take shots at him left and right.
Things indeed are up in the air for Rodgers right now, as he could end up retiring, returning to the Packers or suiting up for a new team in 2022. Everything is in play for the future Hall-of-Famer and back-to-back MVP winner.
The more time passes before Rodgers finalizes his plans, though, the more people are going to keep bashing him. Jennings isn’t happy, and neither are countless fans. If you ask Benkert, Rodgers has the right to take as much time as he needs before making a call. We should find out soon enough what Rodgers decides, with Green Bay supporters obviously praying to the football Gods he’ll be back at Lambeau Field this fall.
