The Los Angeles Lakers will need to find a way to win with Anthony Davis on the sideline because his injury update doesn’t seem promising.

Well, the Los Angeles Lakers might not have much fun throughout the rest of the regular season. Unfortunately for folks in Los Angeles, there’s a very good chance that things will actually be very miserable for Lakers fans.

That’s because Anthony Davis could be out for the next month. If you’re looking at the rest of the NBA schedule, you know that timing doesn’t work well for the Lakers.

Towards the end of a report that was intended to address the future of the Lakers and LeBron James, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski very casually mentioned that sources have informed the folks over at ESPN that Davis could be out for another four to five weeks.

According to Wojnarowski, Davis is dealing with a right mid-foot sprain that will sideline him for essentially the remainder of the regular season.

That’s not good news for Davis, James, the Lakers, or their fans.

Anthony Davis injury update: Los Angeles Lakers may not get Davis back for remainder of regular season

The good news is there’s a chance that Davis could return right in time for the Lakers to make a run in the playoffs. The bad news is that, without Davis, it seems unlikely the Lakers can really hit a hot streak to improve their standing in the Western Conference ahead of the playoffs.

Right now, the Lakers hold on to the ninth seed in the Western Conference. That’s not exactly a great spot.

Maybe James can help this team get through the rest of the regular season. Maybe once Davis returns the Lakers can thrive in the playoffs. Or maybe this season just ends in a way that will frustrate Lakers fans.
