The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to be rocking creamsicle uniforms once again in 2023.

The greatest throwback uniforms the NFL has ever given us will be returning in 2023, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be rocking creamsicle once again.

This long-awaited to all things creamsicle will be delayed a year because of supply chain issues. It will also coincide with a new era of Buccaneers football, one where Tom Brady is absolutely not walking through that door at 46 years old. While the uniforms are as sweet as the tasty frozen treat they are named after, they also represent a time of extreme futility for the Buccaneers.

While Lee Roy Selmon was an all-timer wearing these, Vinny Testaverde threw interceptions as prolifically as Jameis Winston did during his 30-for-30 season sporting these epic threads.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers will go back to creamsicle uniforms in 2023

The Buccaneers rocked these uniforms from their inception as an expansion franchise in 1976 until the mid-1990s. Tampa Bay had several defensive-led playoff teams in the early years based around Selmon, but it was not until the mid-1990s that Tampa Bay really took flight organizationally. While that era coincided with winning, it meant pewter replaced the creamsicle.

Pewter is the other color synonymous with Buccaneers football. While the team faded once Jon Gruden was fired as head coach, the franchise underwent a third jersey change during the Winston era under center. It was a lot of bright red alarm clock digits, signifying a countdown to destruction of sorts for what Winston was going to do any particular drive. Let’s just say it never ended well…

And with Brady joining the Buccaneers, they went for a more conservative approach to their uniforms to appease the former New England Patriots quarterback. It was classy, simple, yet effective. It got the job done and was akin to the team’s winning ways in pewter. But now that the team is going back to creamsicle, it might be rough sailing for the foreseeable future in Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers may struggle at quarterback, but at least they will look fantastic in creamsicle.
