1. Top landing spots for Mac Jones – New England Patriots

It isn’t shocking to see four of the five teams that drafted a quarterback in the first round last year mentioned as potential landing spots for Robinson. The best fit of that bunch is in New England, where Mac Jones was highly successful as a rookie and guided the Patriots back to the playoffs after a one-year absence.

Jones wasn’t asked to do a ton in New England since the Patriots relied on a formula of running the football and strong defense to win games. That plan was exposed in the playoffs when New England’s defense couldn’t stop the Buffalo Bills and Jones looked ill-prepared to make the big plays necessary to go score-for-score with Josh Allen.

Part of the problem was due to a lack of weapons on the outside for New England, which saw free-agent pickups Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor largely underperform. Adding Robinson would give Jones a true go-to guy that opposing defenses would have to respect, which would benefit the Patriots’ offense as a whole.

The Patriots would have to do some heavy lifting under the salary cap to afford Robinson while also addressing their issues on defense. Bill Belichick does know that his team needs a top receiver to help his quarterback so going for a guy like Robinson makes perfect sense for New England.
