3 teams that should trade for Jimmy Garoppolo
1. Carolina Panthers
This may be perplexing with the fact that the Panthers have the sixth overall pick, giving them a prime opportunity to draft a quarterback, but NFL Network and NFL.com draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah has heard rumors on Carolina’s potential plans with the pick. While appearing on The Rich Eisen Show, he said that they are “dead-set” on addressing the offensive line.
With that being said, considering the fact that Matt Rhule is probably fighting for his job this upcoming season, the head coach may not be able to afford to develop a rookie quarterback. Rhule needs to win games and show that the team is moving in the right direction. Trading for Garoppolo would give him an opportunity to prove that to the Panthers front office.
In addition, Tom Brady’s retirement, Sean Payton stepping away from coaching, and the fact that the Falcons have been struggling, the NFC South is up for grabs. Right now, the best quarterback in the division is the aging Matt Ryan.
Carolina defense showed glimpses of potential last season, but slowly wavered because of injuries and poor play from Sam Darnold. Garoppolo could give the Panthers a chance of winning this weak division. It would not be shocking to see the winner of the NFC South finishing with 9-10 victories. Not a lot to ask from Garoppolo.
