Rob Manfred was the butt of every joke as another round of MLB lockout negotiations crashed and burned, putting the start of the 2022 season in jeopardy.
The MLB lockout will stretch on as the players and owners failed to come to a deal on Tuesday. Now, the league is expected to cancel Opening Day on March 31, with more games potentially lost the longer the lockout stretches.
No one is happy about that development, especially fans and media looking at the leadership of commissioner Rob Manfred and how it contributed to this turn of events.
Manfred was the subject of many a joke and meme when it became clear that negotiations had ended in another stalemate and the owners were prepared to delay the 2022 season.

Here are some of the best memes, gifs and videos lambasting the commissioner.

The memes are funny but the situation is not. For the second time in three seasons, fans are likely to have a truncated baseball season.
This time it’s not because of a global pandemic, which caused an understandable delay (even if it was also extended by disputes between the owners and players). It’s because baseball’s leadership has simply failed to bring the two sides together.
There are mind games everywhere with the owners teasing progress only to blame the players for allegedly changing their tone at the 11th hour.
Whichever side you’re on, this entire situation has been an embarrassment for the sport and Manfred has to own it.
