Latest Aaron Rodgers trade rumors are great news for Packers fans

The Green Bay Packers have not received any trade offers for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, per general manager Brian Gutekunst.

The Denver Broncos were a rumored interested party in Rodgers earlier this offseason, but so far the Packers haven’t had any takers. Rodgers himself hasn’t given us much information about his future, other than he’s taking everything into account.

At the NFL Combine, Gutekunst was asked about Rodgers, and claimed he hadn’t received a single trade offer for the quarterback. Whether that’s true or not, it might give us some insight into Rodgers’ thought process.

Does it make sense for Rodgers to head to the AFC, where the competition is arguably greater to reach the Super Bowl? His best chance at a second Lombardi is in Green Bay, with a front office which has proven willing to do anything to please him.

Gutekunst says he believes Rodgers will tell the Packers his plans before the start of the new league year on March 16.

“I would hope so, yeah,” Gutekunst said. “That’s obviously the start of the new league year. There’s a lot of decisions that have to be made before that. So that would be helpful. I would think we would know something before then.”

If Rodgers wants a trade or retires, it changes the Packers’ entire offseason plan. Should he stay, it also impacts Green Bay’s immediate future with, say, Jordan Love and Davante Adams.

“It’s really no different than every year, because as you get into this time there’s just a lot of unknowns,” Gutekunst said. “You always have free agents you’re trying to bring back. You don’t know how that’s going to go. You gotta kind of have Plan B, Plan C and those things. It’s really no different. [It] garners a lot of attention because of the player and his status, but really no different.”

Rodgers has been patiently waiting, watching how the Packers deal with adversity this offseason. If he likes the vision, perhaps he could return. If not, then Rodgers can either rid off into the sunset or start a new journey elsewhere.
