Atlanta Braves legend Andruw Jones didn’t hold back in calling out Freddie Freeman for contract talks breaking down this offseason.

As soon as the MLB lockout comes to a close, everyone will be waiting to see what happens with Atlanta Braves fan favorite Freddie Freeman. He’s a free agent after helping the club win the World Series, and he’s been linked to the Yankees, Dodgers and more.

If he doesn’t return to Atlanta, which very well could end up happening, club legend Andruw Jones won’t be too happy with him. Jones said this week that he hasn’t been a fan of seeing this drama come up with Freeman and the Braves. Jones went on to compare Freeman’s situation to Chipper Jones.

“If Chipper wanted to go somewhere else, he would have got a lot more money than he was making in Atlanta,” Jones said via The Athletic. “So it’s all up to, what do you want to do? I mean, if you want to make your career in one place or if you want to move on. Some of us didn’t get offers…I see where they’re coming from, but it’s a business. I hope it works out that (Freeman) ends up coming back, but if he doesn’t, we have to move on and make things happen.”

Jones spoke his mind with conviction. Freeman probably won’t like seeing this, but Jones won’t care much about that. Reports have stated that the Braves offered Freeman a monster five-year contract, but he turned it town ahead of the lockout because he wanted a sixth year.

The disconnect between the two sides appears to be on that extra campaign. Once discussions can resume, we’ll see if the Braves and Freeman can meet in the middle or if the stud first baseman will don a new jersey next season. If that does happen, Jones might have some more choice words for Freeman.
