Ahead of their Winner Take All Title Unification Match at WrestleMania 38, Brock Lesnar had huge praise for his opponent, Roman Reigns.
WrestleMania 38 is set to take place across Apr. 2-3 from AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. For the second night of the show, a Winner Take All Title Unification Match will be the main event. Universal Champion Roman Reigns will face off against long-time rival and WWE Champion Brock Lesnar.
During an interview with the New York Post, Lesnar had nothing but huge praise for Reigns ahead of what is being dubbed by WWE as the “Biggest WrestleMania Match of All-Time.”
Brock Lesnar has high praise for Roman Reigns ahead of WrestleMania 38 match
Reigns, who was portrayed as a good guy ever since The Shield broke up in 2014, showed up at SummerSlam 2020 in his “Tribal Chief” persona. He defeated “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman at Payback the following week to win the Universal Champion. He has held onto that title ever since and has proven to be the proverbial “Final Boss” of the company.
Lesnar made his return to WWE at last year’s SummerSlam, his first appearance since losing the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36. After Reigns defended his Universal Championship against John Cena, Lesnar walked down the ramp and into the ring to stare down his adversary.
The duo would have a match at Crown Jewel last October, which Reigns won after interference by The Usos. Reigns and Lesnar were supposed to face off in a rematch at Day 1 for the Universal Championship, but the match was canceled after Reigns tested positive for COVID-19. Lesnar was added to the WWE Championship main event, where he defeated Big E, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Bobby Lashley to win the title.
At the Royal Rumble, Lesnar lost the WWE Championship to Lashley after interference by Reigns. Lesnar won the Men’s Royal Rumble Match to earn a main event bout at WrestleMania 38. Lesnar chose Reigns, but said he wanted to bring the WWE Championship with him. Sure enough, he regained the title at Elimination Chamber to set up this huge match.
This will now be the third time that Lesnar and Reigns have fought in the main event of WrestleMania. At WrestleMania 3 in 2015 Lesnar defended the WWE Championship against Reigns, but neither one after Rollins successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to take the title. Lesnar successfully defended the Universal Championship against Reigns at WrestleMania 34 in 2018.
Now, the two are facing off one more time. Lesnar vs. Reigns. Winner takes all the titles.
