As strange as it may seem, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Logan Paul team up to present the Slap Fighting Championship at the Arnold Sports Festival on Saturday, March 5.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Schwarzenegger and Paul are an odd pairing, but in 2022, expect the unexpected.

Before Schwarzenegger was the most famous action star globally, he was the most iconic bodybuilder in history. He rose to fame as a seven-time Mr. Olympia champion. His physical mystique, combined with his charisma, transferred to the silver screen as he turned out a prolific movie career.

Schwarzenegger then parlayed his fame into a run at politics, and he served as the Governor of California from 2003-2011. His days in politics are behind him, but he’s still active in film.

Schwarzenegger still finds ways to show love for bodybuilding and other sports that some may view as odd. After all, bodybuilding was viewed as abnormal in the 1970s, but Schwarzenegger changed all that.

In 1989 Schwarzenegger created the Arnold Classic bodybuilding competition, which morphed into the Arnold Sports Festival due to its success. Schwarzenegger features non-mainstream sports over a series of days and his Arnold Classic competition during the festival.

This is where slap fighting enters the picture.

Schwarzenegger teamed up with Logan Paul to produce and host the Slap Fighting Championship at the Arnold Sports Festival. Paul’s YouTube and boxing fame add hype and attention to the event, which takes place in Paul’s home state.

Slap fighting pits two competitors standing across from each other, separated by a small table. They take turns slapping each other with incredible force for three rounds until a knockout occurs or the judges determine a winner if it goes the distance.

The Slap Fighting Championship features heavyweights Dawid “Zaleś” Zalewski (16-0) and  Koa “Da Crazy Hawaiian” Viernes (9-0) in the main event. Zalewski is a three-time champion, and Viernes is the first American to win a super heavyweight championship.

The Slap Fighting Championship takes place on Saturday, March 5, at the Arnold Sports Festival. The Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, OH, is the site of the Slap Fighting Championship, and Paul is the event’s host.
