Kentucky Wildcats freshman TyTy Washington had a lot of fun playing spoiler at Florida’s senior day, despite a poor effort on his part.

Washington wasn’t the reason the Wildcats pulled off an impressive victory at Florida, as he finished with just six points on 1-of-6 shooting. The Kentucky freshman has been one of the best all-around players in the country all season, stuffing the stat sheet with 12.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.

But it was Oscar Tshiebwe, himself a candidate for National Player of the Year, who was the player of the game for Kentucky against Florida. Despite an inspirational moment from Keyontae Johnson pregame, the Gators fell short against the favored Wildcats. Tshiebwe finished with 27 points and 15 rebounds.

Tshiebwe has John Calipari’s vote for Player of the Year, especially after his outing in Gainesville.

“I’ll be surprised [if he doesn’t] but, I’ve been surprised before,” Calipari said. “The things that he’s done haven’t been done for 50 years.”

Kentucky basketball: TyTy Washington takes pride in spoiling Florida senior day

Washington loved Kentucky’s road trip, which ended in a Wildcats victory. In a social media post afterward. Washington made it clear he felt like it was a home atmosphere given the ‘Go Big Blue’ chants.

No shade thrown — just so good, ol’ fashion fun for a Kentucky team which got a well-deserved win.

The Wildcats will head to the SEC Tournament next, where they will be the No. 3 seed. UK finished in a tie for second place with the Tennessee Volunteers, but lost the tiebreak. Their first-round opponent has yet to be determined, but will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
