Big 12 Conference Tournament predicitons

  • Dates: March 9-12
  • Location: Kansas City, MO
  • Venue: T-Mobile Center
  • TV: ESPNU (First Round), ESPN or ESPN2 (QF and SF), ESPN (Final)
  • Top Seed: Kansas
  • Bracket

The Big 12 was a rugged league throughout the regular season and the conference tournament should be a war. Oklahoma State is not participating in the tournament due to a postseason ban, leaving nine teams in the field that are all capable of winning the event.

The top of the bracket is the domain of Kansas, which will have to navigate the first-round winner before drawing either TCU or Texas in the semifinals. Both of those teams did beat the Jayhawks during the regular season so it isn’t a lock that Kansas will get to the final.

The bottom of the bracket features a potentially elite semifinal if Baylor and Texas Tech square off. The Red Raiders should get past offensively-challenged Iowa State in their first game while Baylor will have to fend off a desperate Oklahoma team that needs multiple wins to get back on the bubble.

In the end, Kansas’ shaky play will likely prevent the Jayhawks from cutting down the nets in Kansas City. Look for Texas Tech to get past Baylor before beating Kansas while making a strong case for a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Prediction: Texas Tech
