Heralded outside linebacker Von Miller could be contemplating a return to his beloved Denver Broncos in 2022, according to his Instagram.

It was the end of October, and the Broncos were already 4-4. Cutting their losses in the most unimaginable way possible, the team traded away ten-year Denver veteran linebacker Von Miller. Miller, who was a cornerstone to the heralded Broncos defense in a Super Bowl decade, went on to Los Angeles to miraculously win another. Now that Los Angeles’ all-star team could fade in free agency, Miller seems to have his sights fixated on Denver once more.

Miller’s hint toward a Denver return wasn’t exactly subtle, as the current free agent posted a photo of himself in his old Broncos uniform with a thought bubble reading, “I wonder if they will give me my old locker back?” Miller then asked if he should take the number 58 or 40 in blue and orange, making it obvious that he hopes to return to Denver.

Miller all but confirmed his Broncos nostalgia on Twitter later in the day, saying he wants “that old thing back.”

If the 32-year-old linebacker did return to Denver, it may just be for a final farewell tour season, but it would allow Miller to retire his jersey with his longtime team.

If Miller does return to Denver, it completes a masterful move by Broncos general manager George Paton, who is already making a case as one of the best general managers in football for his recent moves. Denver got second and third-round picks for Miller, then lost Miller for three months as he went on a Super Bowl run with the Rams. Now Miller is a free agent that could re-sign with the team and they have two first-round picks, which they could hypothetically flip to Green Bay for Aaron Rodgers. The Broncos have

in the draft, which is half of their 22 starters.

Paton proved his managerial prowess with the Patrick Surtain II pick last season, so whether or not the team trades for Rodgers or takes a rookie quarterback, it’s clear that the Broncos are in good hands. A great deal remains uncertain, but if Von Miller’s Instagram and Twitter are an indication, this team could be on the precipice of a winning season.
